JOY GARNETT, Debs & Company, (through June 5th)
Ms. Garnett's colorful and luminous near-ab-
stract paintings, based on photographs of nu-
clear bomb tests in the 1950's, are said to be
inspired by 19th-century Hudson River School
and Luminist landscape painting; they look
closer in style to the works of Gerhard Richter
and might be interesting blown up to Color
Field scale (Ken Johnson).
